Grok Bot this week: three releases, a fake extension and Claude Ultra

Oct 26 to 30 in one read: what shipped in Grok Bot, Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT and Hark, what broke, what to do now, and what to watch the week of Nov 2.

Check one thing before the weekend: if you updated Claude Code inside the Cursor editor on Thursday, a tampered copy may have reached your computer. Otherwise, Grok Bot shipped three releases, Cursor's Agent SDK went generally available, Anthropic filed to go public and dropped the 5 hour limit on its top plan, and Hark came to the Mac.

The short version#

  • New in Grok Bot: 0.75.8, 0.77.0 and 0.78.1, with rule cards, question cards, Vault payments and shopping cards, plus an X connector with no developer account.
  • New in Cursor: the Agent SDK is generally available, and Cmd+K is retired.
  • Broke: a fake Claude Code extension, a two hour outage on Wednesday, Cloud Agents down overnight Thursday, and Cursor 3.28 on Windows.
  • Opinion: Claude Code needs a "my call first" mode.

What shipped in Grok Bot#

Three releases. 0.75.8 lets a Bot offer to change one of your Auto-review rules on a card you confirm (story). 0.77.0 puts several questions on one card, adds Vault payments, and per the changelog "1Password connects without a shared vault" (story). 0.78.1, dated Oct 27, adds shopping product cards, Shop Pay in the Vault and templates that cancel subscriptions you pick (story). It was still the newest entry on Friday afternoon.

X and referrals. An X API engineer says your Bot can sort bookmarks, go through DMs and draft articles through the X connector without a developer account or extra charge (story). US Premium, Super and Ultra subscribers now earn one usage reset for each referred friend who starts paying (story).

Calls are coming, per Musk. On Sunday Elon Musk said a Bot "can now call someone or a business for you", but 0.77.0 and 0.78.1 don't list calls (story).

How people used it. We published six workflows and three playbooks. Picks: a weekly CRM release roundup across 17 vendors (story), sales battlecards (playbook) and Claire Vo's support Bot as she described it on Sep 3: hourly sweeps of Intercom and email, a person approving every Stripe refund, and tickets turned into doc fixes (playbook). That's her account; we haven't run it.

What broke, and what got fixed#

  • Wednesday. A major incident hit Grok Bot, Cloud Agents, Automations, Bugbot and Origin from 5:15 to 7:13 PM ET (story).
  • Thursday. A tampered Claude Code 2.1.313 sat in Cursor's extension marketplace from about 5:27 AM to 4:35 PM ET. Cursor says "At most 5,000 users were affected, and we will reach out directly." The check is in our story.
  • Thursday night. Cloud Agents were down for some users from 7:29 PM to 3:11 AM ET, and Cursor's extension marketplace was offline from 5:38 PM to 3:12 AM ET. Both are resolved (Oct 30 issue).
  • Friday. Telling one Bot to "stop" can stop the Bots it handed work to. Mohit, from Cursor staff, wrote that it's "a known issue we’re already tracking" and that "the Stop button in that bot’s chat (shown while it’s working) stops only that bot and its own background tasks".
  • Fixed. Bots that went silent at the usage limit should now say so. deanrie, also staff, wrote: "Now, instead of silence, it should show a clear message that the limit has been reached."

Cursor#

Cursor announced the Agent SDK on Monday, so teams can keep an agent's prompt, tools and evals in Git; its changelog dates the entry Oct 20 (story). Cmd+K is retired; press Cmd+I for Agent (story). Cursor 3.28 on Windows answers every agent prompt with "An unexpected error occurred" (story). Colin, from Cursor staff, wrote on Friday: "Just bumping this information that affected users should downgrade to 3.27!" Cursor's changelog had nothing newer than that entry on Friday. On X, Cursor added Annotate to design mode on Tuesday, to "edit elements, draw on the page, and review your designs at different screen sizes", and said DeepSeek V4.1 Flash is in Cursor Settings > Models.

Beyond Grok Bot#

Anthropic. Anthropic filed its S-1 for a Nasdaq listing, with $16,286 million in first half revenue (story). On Friday Max 20x became Ultra at the same $200 price, and verified Ultra accounts lost the 5 hour limit; "Weekly limits remain unchanged," per the post (story). A new beta API splits Claude spend by key, user and model, but its data typically lands within 4 hours, not 5 minutes (story). Also: Claude for Nonprofits (story) and a study where analysts took Claude Code's lean 86% of the time (story).

OpenAI. GPT-6.1 Terra is OpenAI's model for fast visual reasoning and computer use, at $1/$5 per MTok (story). ChatGPT Pro and Business owners can claim up to $500 a month in API credits (story). OpenAI's monitors can now pause or stop Astra conversations across ChatGPT, Codex and the API, so builders need their own alerts (story).

Hark. Hark's Mac app shipped Thursday. Its installer needs macOS 14 and runs on Apple silicon and Intel; there are no release notes yet (story). Users kept reporting Hark's usage limits (Oct 29 issue).

This week's opinion#

Our Friday column argues that agents should stay inside limits you set. Top pick: a Claude Code setup that asks for your call before giving its own, buildable Monday from parts Claude Code already has. Then a Hark page showing what Hark may do without asking, and a job runner that watches your new ChatGPT API credits.

What to do now#

  1. Check for the fake extension. If you installed or updated Claude Code in Cursor on Oct 29, run the check in our story, then update to 2.1.314.
  2. Update Grok Bot so a Bot at its limit tells you instead of going quiet (see deanrie above).
  3. Stop one Bot with its Stop button, not by typing "stop", until staff fix the known issue.
  4. On Windows, go back to Cursor 3.27 if 3.28 breaks agent chat, as Colin advised.
  5. Rerun what failed on Wednesday between 5:15 and 7:13 PM ET, after checking what each run sends.
  6. On Claude's $200 plan, open Settings > Usage. If the Current session bar is gone, your account is verified (story).

Prompt (ours, untested):

Look back at everything you ran for me from Monday Oct 26 to now. List any routine or task that failed, went silent or stopped, with the day and time, and say what it was meant to do. For each one, tell me whether rerunning it would send anything to anyone or spend money. Draft a rerun plan and wait for my OK before you rerun anything.

Why it matters at work#

Score 2/10 (support playbook). Saves: hourly ticket sweeps and a weekly docs pass, per one founder's own account. For: support leads at small software teams. Setup: not sourced. Connects: Intercom, email, Stripe, Slack. Refunds stay behind a person's click in Stripe.

Coming next week#

Announced, hinted or scheduled, not shipped. Anything marked unverified has no company date.

  • Codex x TwitchCon entries close Monday, Nov 2, at 5 PM ET (confirmed). A saved draft isn't entered; click Submit (story). Watch: the Devpost page.
  • Built in Grok Bot calls (reported, unverified). User Brian Stone wrote Friday that calls now work "without a third party app" (user report). Calls weren't in the changelog or docs when we checked. Watch: a changelog entry.
  • Grok Bot 1.0.0 (rumor). Kevin Logan, a user with no stated company tie, wrote Thursday "Stable is still Grok Bot 1.0.0 - might be rolling out soon." A 1.0.0 Mac installer is on Cursor's download server, last modified Oct 27 at 7:14 PM ET, when we checked at 4:39 PM ET Friday. A file on a server is not a release: the changelog tops out at 0.78.1, and nothing says when or whether 1.0.0 ships. Watch: a 1.0.0 changelog entry.
  • Any Bot in Slack (staff hint, unverified). Lauren Tan, whose bio reads "grok @bot at @SpaceXSI", wrote that "soon you'll be able to add any bot to slack". Watch: the changelog.
  • A Cursor 3.28 fix for Windows (staff, no date). Staff say a fix is identified and advise 3.27 for now. Watch: a 3.28 patch or a staff "fixed" reply on the thread.
  • Two tracked Cursor bugs (staff, no timeline). Subagents "can only use the model effort setting that’s currently saved in the model picker", deanrie wrote, and Markdown Preview links with line anchors don't open (thread). deanrie gave no timeline for either. Watch: staff replies.
  • Pull down to search in Claude for iPhone and iPad (company post, no date). Anthropic says it's coming soon. Watch: an App Store update.
  • ChatGPT Chat and Work together (staff hint, unverified). Tibo, whose bio reads "Codex & ChatGPT @OpenAI", wrote that the plan is to bring "best of both Chat / Work capabilities together at some point this year". Watch: an OpenAI post.
  • Hark Mac notes, and an amended Anthropic S-1 (unverified). Watch for Hark's Mac release notes (story) and an S-1 amendment with the price range (story).
  • Later (confirmed). Nov 10: the workshop "How a Series A Startup Runs on Grok Bot" at 6:00 PM UTC on the page, 1:00 PM ET by our conversion after clocks change Nov 1. Nov 16: Claude Enterprise turns on merged chat and Cowork (story). Nov 20: OpenAI's updated Usage Policies take effect (story).

Last week's watch list, checked. 1Password shipped in 0.77.0, and a Vault page is now up at docs.x.ai. The Oct 29 and Oct 30 workshops no longer appear on the workshops page. We found no Anthropic post saying Claude's apps switched to auto mode, and Grok Bot's iMessage support and the pstack statechart skill haven't shipped in the changelog.

Last checked: Oct 30, 2026, 4:39 to 4:43 PM ET (Grok Bot and Cursor changelogs, staff and user X posts, Cursor forum threads, Cursor Workshops, Devpost, the Vault docs and the download server). What changed: first published Oct 30; no updates since.
