A nightly Claude run that reports what a rival creator posted

A brand consultant's nightly Claude job sorts one creator's new X posts and leaves three ideas by morning.

You can have an agent read a rival creator's new posts every night and hand you a short report with ideas by morning. Ly Viet Vu (@LyVietVu), whose bio reads "4 exits, including an agency sold to WPP. Small business owners and personal brands in Vancouver and Saigon: a brand people choose, and AI that does the work.", wrote on Oct 25: "I pulled 762 posts from one top AI creator on X for about 20 cents." The costs and findings are self-reported. We have not run it.

What it replaces#

Scrolling one account to guess what works. After: "By morning there's a short report: what he built, what worked, and up to 3 ideas for me."

How it works#

  1. Collect. "Apify, a shop of ready-made scrapers. One X scraper, about $0.00022 a post."
  2. Sort. "Claude reads every post and sorts it: format, hook, length, likes, bookmarks."
  3. Repeat. "Now it runs every night at 2:40 a.m. on his last 24 hours, capped at 25 cents a run."
  4. Read the report over breakfast and pick an idea.

What the first 762 posts showed them: numbered lists drew "a median of 675 bookmarks, against 154 without", and "Photo posts did worst."

Good to know#

  • The post doesn't say which Claude product runs the nightly schedule or which scraper it uses.
  • For comparison, Apify's Tweet Scraper V2 lists "$0.40 per 1,000 tweets" and says "Each query must return at least 50 tweets" and "Don't run the same query repeatedly in short intervals". Our read: one account's last 24 hours may fall under 50 posts, so check your scraper's rules.
  • The author's advice: "Public posts only, and a spending cap on every run."
  • Disclosure: the author's site says "I consult with and build alongside small businesses," and they promote a free masterclass on YouTube.

Same idea in Grok Bot#

Grok Bot reads X itself. The @bot account said on Oct 7 that X search and reading is "Available for all users, with no need to set up the X connector", so you don't need a scraper. A routine "can run on a schedule," and "Each run spends usage." Starter prompt (ours, untested):

Prompt
Every night at 2:40 AM, read the original posts @[handle] made on
X in the last 24 hours. For each, note format, hook, length, likes
and bookmarks. Keep a running tally in /workspace/rival/posts.csv.
By 7 AM send me a short report: what they posted, what did best,
and up to 3 post ideas for me. Never post, reply or follow anyone.
