Grok Bot update: 3x faster computer tasks, new look, new connectors

Update the app, then try the new themes and connectors. If you add Robinhood, Coinbase or eToro, set a trade rule first, because those can place orders.

Grok Bot got quicker today: the official @bot account says computer tasks now finish 3x sooner on average. Update the app first, since the team didn't say which build carries the changes. The app also has a new typeface, themes and redesigned chat cards, and you can connect Robinhood, Coinbase, eToro, Trello, PostHog and beehiiv. The official @bot account posted the list at 3:55 PM ET on Oct 16.

What changed#

  • Speed. "Computer tasks finish 3x sooner on average, and replies to everything else arrive in less than half the time" (post).
  • Look. "Cards in chat have a new design with a cleaner layout" (post), and the app has "a refreshed look with a new typeface and themes" (post). The docs still list only Follow System, Light and Dark under Appearance.
  • Voice. Calls are "faster, more reliable, and better at remembering past conversations" (post).
  • Notifications. They "now go only to the device you're using" (post).
  • Connectors. "Grok Bot now connects to Robinhood, Coinbase, Trello, PostHog, beehiiv, eToro, and more" (post).

The same thread repeated features we've already covered: X Chat access, email plus aliases, tagging @bot on X and plugin submissions.

Why it matters#

Our read: if you hand your Bot browser or computer work, a 3x cut in wait time is the change you'll feel most. The new connectors add brokerage and crypto accounts, so a Bot can check a portfolio through a connector instead of clicking through a website.

How to use it#

  1. Open Settings, go to Updates, choose Check for Updates, then Restart to Update (Cursor Help).
  2. Open Connect apps in the sidebar, find the connector, choose Add and sign in (docs).
  3. Our suggestion: before you use a trading connector, add an Auto Review rule that asks you first for any order (Settings, General, Auto-review).
  4. In chat, type @ to attach the connector.

Prompt (ours):

Using the Robinhood connector, list my positions with today's change and my biggest mover. Read only: don't place, change or cancel any order. If any step would trade, stop and ask me first.

Good to know#

  • Some of these can trade. The marketplace listings say Robinhood can "trade in a Robinhood Agentic account" (listing), Coinbase can "preview or place trades" (listing), and eToro can "prepare and place trades" (listing).
  • Every Bot gets them. The docs say "Installed connectors are account-wide. Their availability is not isolated to one Bot" (docs).
  • The 3x is their number. SpaceXSI didn't share how it measured the average. We haven't timed it ourselves.
  • No build named. The thread doesn't say which app build carries these changes.

What to watch#

Parker Conrad, a SpaceXSI staff member whose X bio reads "voice @spacexsi," wrote "More soon." Roman Ugarte, a SpaceXAI staff member whose bio reads "Building @Bot at @SpaceXAI," said "This week, the team focused on making more of the little things feel great" this week. Watch for a changelog entry and for the docs' Appearance list to add the new themes.
