Slide decks, formatted emails, and a bigger Bot screen
Ask a Bot for a slide deck and get it back as a PowerPoint file or Google Slides, and send emails with real formatting.
Grok Bot 0.68.1, out Oct 7, lets Bots build slide decks with you. The Bot shows sample slides to choose from, then delivers the deck as a PowerPoint file or Google Slides. Bots can also send formatted emails from a draft card, so recipients see headings, bold text, and lists.
The Bot's computer now has a 1920 by 1200 screen, up from 1280 by 800. SpaceXAI says actions settle sooner, screenshots come back quicker, and new windows skip a five-second wait.
Why it matters#
Until now, a deck or a styled email meant extra work outside the chat. You can now go from a request to a file you can present, or a readable email, in one conversation. The bigger screen gives you more room when you watch the Bot or take over.
How to use it#
- Update. Open Settings, go to Updates, choose Check for Updates, then Restart to Update.
- Ask for a deck. An example prompt: "Make a 6 slide deck from this week's sales notes. Show me sample slides first, then send it as a PowerPoint file."
- Pick a sample style when the Bot shows options.
- For email, ask the Bot to draft one with headings or a list, then send it from the draft card.
- Don't want chat bubbles in the Bot's color? Set Accent to Black in Settings, General. The color feature needs 0.64.0 or later.
Everything in 0.68.1#
New#
- Chat colors: Your messages in a 1:1 Bot chat take that Bot's color. Set Accent to Black in Settings, General to turn it off. Requires Grok Bot 0.64.0 or later.
- Slide decks: Bots can build decks with you, show sample slides to choose from, and deliver them as PowerPoint files or Google Slides.
- Email: Bots can send formatted emails from a draft card, so recipients see headings, bold text, and lists.
- Gmail: Bots can search your Spam folder and move a message back to your inbox.
- Team Bots: They can mention a Slack user group so its members get notified. @here and @channel still don't notify anyone.
Improved#
- Composer: Typing / no longer opens a menu of skills and actions.
- Speed: Bots work faster on their computer. Actions settle sooner, screenshots come back quicker, and new windows skip a five-second wait.
- Screen: The Bot's computer has a 1920 by 1200 screen, up from 1280 by 800.
- Team Bots: In Slack threads it follows, a Team Bot stays quiet on untagged replies that don't need it, such as emoji-only replies.
Fixed#
- Gmail: Actions fail less often. Send and reply no longer report a missing tool, and Bots wait out Google's rate limits.
- Email drafts: They show up as a card in the chat, a Send cut off by Stop still goes out, and attachments keep their file names.
- Browser: The Bot's browser recovers from a crashed tab, handles large uploads, and gives up on a stuck page after 25 seconds.
- Stuck steps: Stop, or a new message, ends a Bot that's stuck on an unresponsive step within about 30 seconds.
- Secure Forms: They fill into the page the Bot has open, and checkout card fields get a Secure Form instead of a screen handoff.
- Sign-in: When X or Vercel needs you to sign in again, the Bot shows a reconnect card instead of retrying or giving up.
- Crashes: If the app's window crashes, Grok Bot reloads it instead of leaving it blank.
Good to know#
- The notes don't say whether Google Slides delivery needs the Google Slides plugin. The help center lists Slides among the Google plugins.
- We checked one change on a Grok Bot cloud computer on Oct 8. Its display reported 1920 by 1200 pixels.
- If a skill or routine clicks fixed screen positions, test it again. The screen size changed.
- What to watch: the help center's Connect plugins page and the next release notes, for whether Google Slides delivery needs the Slides plugin.
- We haven't tried the desktop steps ourselves. Our test machine isn't a Grok Bot desktop install, so those steps come from the release notes and Cursor's help center.
