Five new languages and Gmail send-as addresses

Send Bot email drafts from a verified Gmail send-as address, and use Grok Bot in Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Swahili, or Hausa.

Grok Bot 0.68.0, out Oct 5, adds Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Swahili, and Hausa to the Language options. Email drafts can now go out from a verified Gmail send-as address, with a From picker when you have more than one.

Approval cards now ask whether to allow the Bot by name and quote its instruction. Settings now calls saved rules Custom Rules.

Why it matters#

If you send from a shared or alias address in Gmail, such as support@, a Bot can now send as that address instead of your main one. Approval cards also tell you which Bot is asking and what it plans to do before you allow it.

How to use it#

  1. Update. Open Settings, go to Updates, choose Check for Updates, then Restart to Update.
  2. To change the language, open Settings, go to General, and pick a Language under Appearance.
  3. For send-as, have a verified send-as address in Gmail. Ask the Bot to draft the email, then pick the address in the From picker on the draft card.
  4. To remove an old computer, open Settings, then Computer, and choose Remove. A removed computer tells you to restart Grok Bot to add it back.

Everything in 0.68.0#

New#

  • Languages: Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Swahili, and Hausa join the Language options in Settings.
  • Computers: Settings, Computer shows Remove for your other computers. A removed computer tells you to restart Grok Bot to add it back.
  • Gmail: Email drafts can go out from a verified send-as address, with a From picker when you have more than one.
  • Command palette: Searching it also finds plugins, and Enter opens the plugin's page.

Improved#

  • Approvals: Cards ask whether to allow the Bot by name and quote its instruction. Settings calls saved rules Custom Rules.
  • Notifications: They, and the per-Bot notification switch, now say the Bot is waiting for you.
  • Routines: Right-click a routine in the details pane for Pause, Resume, Test, Edit, and Delete. Clicking a routine no longer opens its detail view.
  • Pull requests: Hovering a link shows a preview card with its status and title instead of a plain tooltip.
  • Computer: Opening it full screen shows the live view right away, without a second Connecting screen.
  • Sidebar: The Unassigned section can be dragged, or moved with Move up and Move down, like your own sections.

Fixed#

  • Large files: Copying or saving a large image, or opening a large JSON or Markdown file, no longer freezes the app.
  • Chats: Switching chats no longer flashes an empty transcript, and older messages you scrolled back to stay when the app reconnects.
  • Gmail: Draft cards include your signature, logo included, and say Couldn't send this draft when Send doesn't go through.
  • Copying: Copied replies keep their line breaks and link URLs when you paste them into email, Slack, or plain text.
  • Team Bots: They no longer appear in the primary Bot picker, and a refused change says Team Bots can't be a primary Bot.

Good to know#

  • Cursor's help page still lists 31 desktop languages without these five, and the phone app's list doesn't include them. The release notes don't say whether they reach the phone.
  • Send-as only covers addresses you've already verified in Gmail. The notes don't describe adding one from Grok Bot.
  • What to watch: the help center's language list and the phone app's release notes, which will show whether the five languages reach the phone.
  • We haven't tried these steps ourselves. Our test machine isn't a Grok Bot desktop install, so the steps come from the release notes and Cursor's help center.
