Built-in X search, reading, and monitoring

Ask any Bot to search X, read posts, or watch a topic on a schedule, with no X connector to set up.

Grok Bot can search, read, and monitor X. The @bot account announced it at 5:40 PM ET on Oct 7 and said it's "available for all users, with no need to set up the X connector."

SpaceXAI suggests three uses: tracking feedback on your product, following a breaking story, and getting a weekly roundup of your industry.

Why it matters#

Until now, X access went through the X connector. Since Aug 29, connecting your X profile created a developer account with "some included credits." Now every Bot can read X without that step, so you can point a Bot at a topic and let it watch.

How to use it#

  1. In any Bot chat, ask for what you want to find on X, in plain words.
  2. To keep watching, turn it into a routine. Cursor's routines guide says to tell the Bot what to do and when.
  3. Open the routine and check that When to run shows the schedule you meant. Choose Test to try it now.

A real prompt, from Lauren Tan, who works on Grok Bot: "look out for interesting things people are doing with Grok Bot on X and slack me a daily digest at 9am. if there's anything relevant, pick the coolest ideas and suggest how I can use it to improve my workflow."

She also suggested a feedback loop: have the Bot monitor X for posts about your product, then send feature requests to your issue tracker and bug reports to a Cursor cloud agent to triage.

Good to know#

  • Each routine run spends usage. The routines guide warns that an hourly schedule can use a week of usage in a day.
  • SpaceXAI describes search, reading, and monitoring. It hasn't said whether posting from your account still needs the X connector.
  • There's no published limit on how many posts a Bot can read.
