Bots get their own mail.grokbot.com inbox in a gradual rollout

A Grok Bot team member says the addresses will reach more accounts soon. Try asking your Bot to send an email.

Update, Oct 9 (launch): SpaceXAI launched Bot email for all users at 1:25 PM ET, with a help page. See Every Grok Bot user can now claim a mail.grokbot.com address.

Update, Oct 9: Asked on X how to set up a Bot's email, Lauren Tan, who works on Grok Bot at SpaceXAI, replied at 3:21 AM ET: "it will be rolled out further very soon!" That's the first team statement that the addresses are rolling out, so we now label this confirmed. There's still no help page or changelog line.

Update, Oct 8: Lauren Tan, who works on Grok Bot, asked @bot for a mail.grokbot.com address for her Bot, and Elon Musk reposted a demo of claiming one. Other users say claiming fails for them. SpaceXAI still hasn't documented it.

Some Grok Bot users report that their Bots can claim an email address of their own at mail.grokbot.com. Melvin Vivas posted on Oct 6 that asking a Bot to send an email makes it claim an inbox that "can send and receive emails." When asked whether Grok Bot now has its own email, Elon Musk replied "Yes" early on Oct 7.

Why it matters#

A Bot with its own address could get mail sent straight to it, and email other people or agents without using your Gmail. That's different from the Gmail plugin, which acts as your connected mailbox.

How to use it#

These steps come from users, not SpaceXAI.

  1. Ask your Bot to send an email, as Melvin Vivas describes, or ask it to claim an address.
  2. Lauren Tan asked @bot on X: "hey @bot can I get tibo@mail.grokbot.com for my bot?"
  3. If it works, the Bot tells you the address it claimed.

A real use: AshutoshShrivastava (@ai_for_success) says he claimed an address "with literally one click" and set up his Hermes Agent and Grok Bot to "hand off tasks and work with each other over email."

Good to know#

  • There's no help page, changelog line, or @bot product post about this. The only team statement on the rollout is Tan's reply on Oct 9.
  • Some users report their Bot says it has no tool to claim an address.
  • RuntimeWire reported a gated workflow for mail.grokbot.com addresses in the 0.68.1 Windows app, off by default. We couldn't verify which accounts have it.
  • Limits, retention, and spam handling aren't known.
