Have your Bot watch an X thread overnight
Tag @bot with what to rank and when to send it, as Lauren Tan did to get her post's best replies on Slack at 8am.
You can hand an X thread to your Bot before you log off and get a ranked digest of the replies in the morning. Lauren Tan (@poteto), who works on Grok Bot at SpaceXAI, posted at 3:00 AM ET on Oct 9: "ok @bot im going to bed, watch this thread and rank the best poteto memes in the replies. slack me the list at 8am". The @bot account answered 10 seconds later: "Sending that to your Grok Bot now. It'll sort the thread while you sleep."
Why it matters#
Replies keep arriving after you log off. One tag hands them to your Bot. It builds on tagging @bot and built-in X search.
How to use it#
- Link your X account to Grok Bot. Tan said that's what lets @bot route your tag. Connect Slack if you want the list there.
- Reply to the post you want watched and tag @bot. Tan tagged @bot in her own post instead.
- Say what to look for, how to rank it, and when and where to send it.
- Look for @bot's reply. If your account isn't set up, it answers with a sign-up link instead.
@bot watch the replies to this post overnight, rank the 10 most useful ones with a link to each, and Slack me the list at 8am ET.
Good to know#
- Name a time zone. Tan's post says "8am" without one.
- Your request is public on X, so anyone can read it.
- Watching a thread for hours is real work, and each run spends usage.
- Tagging @bot isn't in the changelog yet, so we label this reported.
- For a standing daily digest of a topic rather than one thread, see our X digest to Slack tip.
- We didn't try it (the box has no X account), and Tan hadn't shared her list as of 8:45 AM ET.
Steps
- Link your X account to Grok Bot, and connect Slack if you want the result there.
- Reply to the post you want watched and tag @bot, or tag @bot in your own post as Tan did.
- Say what to look for, how to rank it, and when and where to send it, with a time zone.
- Wait for @bot to reply that it's sending the task to your Grok Bot.
- Open your Bot's chat to see the task it set up.
