Two Grok Bots that brief one founder on AI every day

A founder pairs an X monitor and a podcast clipper into one daily AI news brief, built in Grok Bot.

You can split "keep up with AI" into small Bots and get one brief a day. @mfishbein listed seven Bots they built on Oct 22. One is an "AI watchtower": "the X monitor and podcast clipper brief me on the AI frontier every day so I don't fall behind". This is self-reported. We have not run it.

Disclosure: @mfishbein's bio says they are "Founder at Atherial, AI strategy and engineering agency," and later that day they posted "want to deploy agents inside your company? get in touch here".

What it replaces#

Before: scrolling X and sitting through long AI interviews. After: two Bots do the watching and one brief arrives daily.

How it works#

  1. An X monitor. In their words it "finds posts and replies in my space, filters for people in my ICP worth reaching out to". ICP means ideal customer profile, so this Bot also finds sales leads.
  2. A podcast clipper. It "finds the best moments in AI interviews and makes clips using Descript".
  3. A daily brief that draws on both. That is the "AI watchtower" Bot.
  4. Tell it what you care about. Asked in a reply, they said: "I gave it guidelines and the topics I’m interested in". They did not publish the guidelines.
  5. Put it on a schedule. In another reply: "it’s easy to set up “Routines” (crons) and seems to manage context really well."

Starter prompt (ours, untested; the user did not publish theirs):

Prompt
Every weekday at 7 AM, search X for the last 24 hours of posts
about [your topics] from [accounts or kinds of people you trust].
Skip reposts and giveaways. Give me the five that matter most,
one line each with the link, and one line on why it matters to
me. Then list up to two new interviews or podcasts on the same
topics, with the minute marks worth hearing. Under 250 words.

Good to know#

  • Start with the written brief. Clips need a separate tool (Descript in this case) and more setup.
  • Write your guidelines down. "My topics" is too vague; name accounts, topics and what to skip.
  • One Bot per job is how this user built it. It also makes a bad brief easier to trace to the Bot that caused it.
  • Each scheduled run uses your Grok Bot usage (what a routine costs).

Same idea in Grok Bot#

Our read: this already is a Grok Bot setup. The changelog for v0.70.2 says "Bots can search X and read posts and profiles without you connecting an X account," and the schedule is a routine. For a work version aimed at product feedback, see our X feedback watch.
