Bots vanished after the X Subscription switch? Staff say they're safe

The account-combine step can leave your Bots on one account and your plan on another. Don't reset, delete or pay again.

If your Bots disappeared after you moved to The X Subscription, don't reset your Bot computer, delete anything or buy a second subscription. Cursor staff member mohitjain told one user at 4:48 AM ET today: "your Bots aren't gone." A few minutes earlier he told another: "Your bots haven't been deleted, they're all safe."

  • Who: people who switched to The X Subscription. Seven users in the thread report it, including people on Premium and Ultra. Staff gave no count.
  • Symptom: Bots missing from the app or grok.com. One user said they vanished "1 by 1."
  • Money risk: staff asked people not to "buy a second subscription."
  • Status: "It's an issue we're tracking," mohitjain said. For one user, he said putting the Bots back "needs a fix on our side." No fix date.

What changed#

A forum thread opened at 9:30 PM ET Oct 20, and six more users said overnight that the same thing happened to them. mohitjain explained: "During the switch to The X Subscription they can end up on a different account than your plan, so one side shows your plan with no Bots and the other shows your Bots but asks you to subscribe." To another user he wrote: "The account-combine step left your bots on one of your accounts and your plan on the other, which is why they vanished one by one and why the Mac app wouldn't sign you in."

We first noted this symptom in a one-user digest item on Oct 19, when mohitjain said the switch "didn't fully finish combining your accounts." Today's thread shows more users and gives staff's first steps.

Why it matters#

Bots carry your instructions, routines and history, so missing Bots look like lost work, and the obvious workarounds (reset, recreate, pay again) are the ones staff ruled out. mohitjain said those moves "can make it harder to put things back."

What to do now#

These are mohitjain's steps, from his 4:48 AM ET reply.

  1. Don't make it worse: "please don't reset your Bot computer, delete anything, or buy a second subscription."
  2. Try this first: "fully sign out of Grok Bot everywhere (the app and grok.com), then sign back in using the same method you used when you created the Bots."
  3. If they're still missing, email support. To the other users in the thread he wrote: "send a note to support@x.ai with the email on your account." He asked the first poster to say which side she lands on: "plan but no Bots, or Bots but a subscribe prompt."
  4. If you were charged twice: "Just let me know here if you spot a second charge," he told one user.

Good to know#

  • Signing out doesn't fix every case. The first poster said after trying it: "While I can see the categories I created, the bots are still missing."
  • This is related to Bots with no included usage from Oct 19, where kevinn named a different support address. That entry explains which address goes with which symptom.

What to watch#

A staff reply in the thread saying the Bots are back on the same account as the plan.
