Unreleased Claude screens show Personal Finance with Plaid bank linking

A TestingCatalog sighting that Anthropic hasn't confirmed: read-only bank linking in Claude through Plaid. What the screens say, and what you can use today.

Unreleased. This is a TestingCatalog sighting, and Anthropic hasn't confirmed it. At 6:18 PM ET Sunday, TestingCatalog posted two screenshots of an unreleased Claude screen and wrote: "Personal Finance will work through Plaid integration."

What the screens say#

In TestingCatalog's screenshots, the first screen reads "Understand your finances with Claude" and "Securely link your bank accounts and ask Claude about spending, plans, and more." A second screen, "Link your bank accounts," promises:

  • "Read-only, so Claude can't move money."
  • "Plaid handles sign-in through an encrypted connection."
  • "Unlink a bank any time, and Claude stops reading it."

Even in the leak it's switched off: that screen says "Plaid isn't available on this account." TestingCatalog first spotted the feature on Sep 14, as "Claude Money" in the iOS app.

Why it matters#

Our read: Claude would be catching up, not opening a new category. OpenAI's help page says "Finances is available in the U.S. to Free, Go, Plus and Pro users on web, iOS, and Android." It also says ChatGPT "cannot take financial actions for you."

What you can use today#

Claude's directory lists Era Context, whose listing says "Manage your personal finances using Claude". It isn't read-only: its tools include connections__connect_bank_account and billing__upgrade. Add it under Customize > Connectors, then try this prompt (ours, untested):

Using Era Context, show my spending for the last 30 days by category and list my recurring charges. Only read data. Don't change rules or settings, connect accounts, or upgrade billing.

What to watch: a Claude release note or help article that names Personal Finance.
