A daily Claude task that shortlists new jobs and skips repeats

An engineer's scheduled Claude task ranks fresh job posts every morning and remembers which links it already showed.

You can have an agent check job boards for you each morning and hand back only the new openings that fit. @Pratyush2241, whose bio reads "SDE-III @walmart", wrote on Oct 24: "I set up a Claude routine that finds jobs for me every morning." Their result: "Job hunting was eating 2 hours of my day. Now it takes 5 minutes." That is self-reported. We have not run it.

What it replaces#

Before, per the thread, they "saw the same jobs again and again, and wasted time on roles that didn't fit my experience or pay." After: one ranked sheet a day with only new links.

How it works#

  1. Profile. "experience, skills, target titles, cities, salary range" plus "a list of sources to check."
  2. Daily run. "Every day at 10 AM it" searches, drops roles outside the experience range or below the salary, and ranks the rest: "Apply now / Worth a shot / Stretch."
  3. Memory as a file. A seen-jobs file: "Every link it shows me goes into that file, so tomorrow I only get new openings."
  4. Output. "an Excel sheet with company, role, salary, link and a one-line reason it fits me. Best match on top."
  5. One rule. "it never applies for me. It only finds and ranks."

Good to know#

  • Per Anthropic's help page, scheduled tasks "are available on all paid plans (Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise)" and "run on their cadence even when your computer is asleep."
  • The same page says they "work with your connectors and the files saved to your Claude account." Our read: keep the seen-jobs file there, not only on your laptop.
  • The author warns: "Some sites block automated reading, so it won't find every job."

Same idea in Grok Bot#

A Grok Bot routine "can run on a schedule," and the seen list can live in a file on the Bot's computer. Starter prompt (ours, untested):

Prompt
Every weekday at 10 AM, check these job sites: [list]. Keep only
roles titled [titles] in [cities], paying at least [salary], for
someone with [years] years of experience. Skip any link already in
/workspace/jobs/seen.txt, then add every link you show me to that
file. Rank the rest as Apply now, Worth a shot or Stretch, and send
me a sheet with company, role, salary, link and one line on fit.
Never apply or contact anyone for me.
