A Grok Bot PR routine that drafts pitches from each morning's news

A former founder's Grok Bot runs free Newsjack PR skills each weekday and only surfaces pitch drafts worth sending.

You can have a Grok Bot read the morning news and media requests for you and hand back only pitch drafts worth your time. Corey Ganim (@coreyganim), whose bio reads "Helping non-technical entrepreneurs turn AI into ROI. Previous founder of a $16M eCom startup.", runs one. On Oct 20 they wrote: "Every morning it scans the news for stories I can comment on, drafts pitches to reporters, and sweeps media request platforms. On day two it had 2 pitch packs ready and had triaged 243 media requests." That is self-reported. We have not run it.

What it replaces#

Before: reading the news and request sites yourself, then finding a reporter and writing the pitch. After: a weekday report, and a message only "if a story passes."

How it works#

They built it on Newsjack, a free, MIT-licensed set of PR skills by @elvissun, per the post. Their Oct 18 setup prompt for a dedicated "PR Bot":

  1. Once: install Newsjack, run /pr-strategist with them, then /voice-extractor on their past writing.
  2. Weekdays at 7 AM: "run /newsjack-detector. Only message me if a story passes."
  3. For a story that passes: /angle-generator, /find-journalists, /same-outlet-ranker, a draft pitch, then /meanest-editor.
  4. Mondays: "sweep HARO and Qwoted and draft replies with /reactive-comment."
  5. The rule: "Never send anything. Drafts only. I approve and send every pitch."

On Oct 26 it was still one of their "14 routines a week".

Good to know#

  • Newsjack's README table of "What runs where" has columns for Claude.ai, ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work, Cowork, Claude Code, Codex, Hermes, OpenClaw and Medialyst. Grok Bot isn't one of them.
  • Some skills do their best work with a Medialyst account, which the README says you can create free. /find-journalists asks for "explicit approval before credit spend". @elvissun's X bio links both newsjack.sh and medialyst.ai.
  • The README offers a one-line install and says to "review install.sh first if you like".
  • Grok Bot's routines page says "Each run spends usage," and a Test run "does real work."
  • Their Oct 18 prompt sweeps HARO and Qwoted on Mondays; their Oct 20 list says the bot "sweeps media request platforms" every morning.
  • Disclosure: Corey Ganim sells a $149/month community on landing AI services clients.

Set it up in Grok Bot#

Starter prompt (ours, untested):

Prompt
You are my PR Bot. Install the Newsjack skills from
github.com/elvisun/newsjack on your computer and show me what you
installed. Then set up a routine: every weekday at 7:00 AM, run
/newsjack-detector for [company] on [topics]. Message me only if a
story passes. For each one, draft one pitch to one fitting reporter
and run /meanest-editor on it. Never send, post or spend credits.
Drafts only.
