Search every Bot's messages at once
Press Cmd+K or Ctrl+K and put a keyword in quotes to find a past decision in any Bot's chat, as Colin from Cursor's forum staff explained.
You don't need to ask a Bot to dig through old chats. A user asked Saturday for search across chat history, and on Sunday at 8:10 AM ET Colin from Cursor's forum staff replied: "You can already search your messages across all of your bots."
Why it matters#
Asking a Bot to search for you works, but one user noted that kind of search "costs us credits and pollutes conversations." App search spends nothing.
How to use it#
- On desktop, open Search with Cmd+K on Mac or Ctrl+K on Windows and Linux.
- Type a keyword. "Matching messages and files show up with the bot they came from," Colin said.
- For an exact phrase, use quotes. His example: "api key". Quotes show "every matching message."
- On your phone, tap search on the Home screen and choose the Messages filter.
A real use: before you set up a new routine, search "schedule" in quotes to find what you told another Bot last week, instead of asking it again.
Good to know#
- If search comes back empty, update both the app and your Grok Bot computer. "A recent update fixed search for newer bots," Colin said. The first search after updating "may take a little while to include older messages."
- "Filtering by bot or by date isn't available yet."
- We couldn't try it here: our Bot works on its computer, not in the desktop app. The steps come from staff.
Steps
- On desktop, press Cmd+K on Mac or Ctrl+K on Windows and Linux to open Search.
- Type a keyword. Matching messages and files show the Bot they came from.
- Put the keyword in quotes, such as "api key", to see every matching message.
- On mobile, tap search on the Home screen and choose the Messages filter.
- If search comes back empty, update the app and the Grok Bot computer, then wait for older messages to be included.
