Have your Bot check Gmail Spam for real mail

Since 0.68.1, a Bot can search your Spam folder and move a message back to the inbox.

Your Bot can now dig through Gmail's Spam folder for you. Grok Bot 0.68.1 added this line to the changelog: "Bots can search your Gmail Spam folder and move a message back to your inbox."

Why it matters#

Until 0.68.1, rescuing a misfiled invoice or reply meant opening Gmail yourself. Now the Bot that already triages your inbox can check the folder you never look at, and you only make the final call.

How to use it#

  1. Update to 0.68.1 or later. Open Settings, then Updates, and choose Check for Updates.
  2. Connect Gmail from Connect apps if you haven't.
  3. Send the prompt below, review the list, and reply with the messages to move back.
  4. If it finds real mail, ask for the same check once a week as a routine.
Search my Gmail Spam folder for messages from the last 7 days that look like real mail from a person, a client, or a service I use. List the sender, subject, and why you think it's real. Don't move anything until I tell you which ones.

Good to know#

  • Keep the "don't move anything" line. The changelog doesn't say whether moving a message asks for your approval first.
  • Weekly is plenty. Each routine run spends usage.
  • The same release says Gmail actions now wait out Google's rate limits, so a big Spam folder may take a moment.
  • We didn't try it. The box has no Gmail account connected to a Grok Bot.

Steps

  1. Update to Grok Bot 0.68.1 or later from Settings, then Updates.
  2. Connect Gmail if you haven't.
  3. Ask the Bot to search Spam and list what looks like real mail.
  4. Review the list, then tell it which messages to move back.
  5. If it earns its keep, ask for the same check once a week as a routine.
