Grok BotKnown issues

Scheduled routines don't get the Bot inbox email tools
SendEmail works in the main chat but not in a routine run. Staff say use Gmail unattended, or hand the send back to chat.
- Status: Open. Staff confirmed it at 3:37 AM ET on Oct 12 and passed it to the team. No fix date.
- First seen: A forum report posted at 11:32 AM ET on Oct 11, the weekend after Bot email launched.
- Symptoms: From the Bot's main chat, SendEmail from a claimed mail.grokbot.com inbox works. The same Bot's scheduled routine fails with Tool "SendEmail" not found. It is not an Auto-review block. The tools are missing from the run.
- Workaround: Send unattended mail through Gmail, or have the routine hand the draft to the main chat for an approval.
A Bot can own a mail.grokbot.com address and still be unable to send from it on a schedule. "Routine runs don't currently get your Bot's inbox tools, only its main chat does," staff member mohitjain said. "Nothing's wrong with your setup."
Why it matters#
Briefings and digests that should come from the Bot's own address fall back to Gmail, or fail, when they run unattended.
How to use it#
- For unattended sends, use Gmail (or another connected mail account the routine already has).
- If the mail must come from mail.grokbot.com, have the routine hand the draft to the Bot's main chat. That chat will ask you to approve the send.
- Test with a one-time routine before you depend on a daily briefing.
When this routine runs, draft the briefing, then hand the finished email to my main chat so I can approve a SendEmail from my mail.grokbot.com inbox. Do not call SendEmail inside the routine itself.
Good to know#
- Saving an email-triggered routine can fail for a different reason. That is the email-trigger known issue.
- Staff will post in the thread when there is an update.
