Hark users say it still shops on Amazon after the agent block

Four Hark users report Amazon orders going through while Grok Bot users hit Amazon's agent page. Hark hasn't explained, and what it means for your Amazon account is an open question.

What we know: four Hark users have posted that Hark completed Amazon tasks for them this week, after Grok Bot users started hitting Amazon's agent block page. One wrote on Thursday at 8:01 PM ET: "Used Hark to make an agent payment on Amazon today. How does Hark have access to Amazon but not Muse or Instinct?" These are user reports, not proof of how Hark reaches Amazon. Neither Hark nor Amazon has commented. If you use Hark on Amazon, approve the final order yourself.

What changed#

Since Oct 14, Grok Bot users have posted an Amazon page that says "Continued access by an unauthorized AI agent violates Amazon's Conditions of Use" (example). Reports from other assistants are thinner. One user said that on ChatGPT dots "I couldn't get into my account" and Amazon returned "We do not support your session or client." Maria Gorskikh, co-founder of Maritime, which sells a $1/month workaround, wrote that "Amazon just blocked AI assistants like Muse/Dots/ Instinct from browsing and buying on its website." Brett Adcock replied to her post with "Try Hark." Adcock's X bio lists @hark_labs among his companies, so treat that as promotion, not evidence.

Separately, four accounts with no connection we could find report Amazon working with Hark: "Hark works with Amazon just fine" (@PokerSarang, Oct 15, 9:07 AM ET), "Also @hark_labs works on Amazon" (@kale_abe, Oct 15, 8:58 AM ET), the payment post above, and a user who said Grok Bot and Muse would "just get stuck and give me an excuse (Can't login to Amazon, Walmart...)" before adding "I found Hark a few days ago and it just... Works!" (@corycharelson, Oct 14, 2:40 PM ET). Hark itself hasn't said anything about Amazon.

Why it matters#

Amazon's Conditions of Use, last updated Aug 14, 2026, say agents must name themselves by putting "Agent/[agent name]" in the user agent string, and must "Not circumvent or otherwise avoid any measure intended to block, limit, modify, or control whether and how Agents access" Amazon Services. Amazon also says that "At our sole discretion, we may limit, including by technical measures, whether and how any Agent accesses" its services. Nobody outside Hark and Amazon knows whether Hark is allowed through under those terms. Open question: whether using Hark on Amazon carries any risk to your own Amazon account. Neither company has said.

How to use it#

  1. In Chat, name the item and the store.
  2. Tell Hark to stop at the cart.
  3. Watch the Handoff browser and approve the order yourself. Our prompt:
Find [item] on Amazon, add it to my cart, and show me the cart with the total price and delivery date. Don't place the order until I say yes.

Good to know#

  • Hark says "You can watch our CUA perform actions as they work on your behalf" and "There's always a button to cancel your order."
  • Hark says your card sits in an encrypted vault and is "only detokenized on the actual page (like a retail site) where it's needed."
  • Related: Amazon shows Grok Bots an unauthorized-agent page.

What to watch#

A statement from Hark or Amazon on whether Hark is allowed on Amazon, the first Hark user to report Amazon's block page, and whether Amazon names any agents it allows.

Steps

  1. Ask Hark for the item and the store in Chat.
  2. Tell it to stop at the cart and show you the total and delivery date.
  3. Watch the Handoff browser, and say yes only when the cart is right.
