Grok Bot can now sign in for you through 1Password

Approve the saved logins your Bot may use and 1Password fills them in without showing it the password, rolling out over the next few days.

If your Bot keeps stopping at login screens, it will soon be able to ask 1Password for the login instead. The official account posted at 2:13 PM ET: "Grok Bot can now use your 1Password account. Approve the logins you want to share, and your Bot signs in for you. This new integration is rolling out to users over the next few days." So you may not have it yet.

What changed#

It's part of 1Password for Agents, launched Oct 22. 1Password's integrations page lists SpaceXSI Grok Bot and Muse, from Meta, as "Rolling out over the coming days across all platforms," and its blog lists Anthropic's Claude Duet and OpenAI ChatGPT Work and dots as "integrations coming soon." When the agent reaches a sign-in form, you approve the request on your own device and 1Password fills the login "directly into the sign-in form instead of sending it to the agent" (press release).

Grok Bot has connected to 1Password on a Mac since v0.53.0 on Sep 15 (our story). Neither company has said how the new rollout relates to that Mac plugin, and the Grok Bot changelog had no entry for it at 4:17 PM ET. Its newest entry is 0.71.2, dated Oct 14.

Why it matters#

Our read: logins are where Bot tasks stall, and until now the options were taking over, a Secure Form, or 1Password on a Mac (our sign-in guide). Per 1Password, "Grok Bot doesn't see your password or one-time code" (Grok Bot page).

How to use it#

  1. Check your account. It's "included in Individual and Families plans on 1password.com." Accounts on 1password.eu and 1password.ca, and Business and Team Starter Pack accounts, "aren't currently eligible for this integration" (Grok Bot page).
  2. Wait for the rollout. No setup steps are published yet. The Grok Bot page offers a sign-up "to be notified when your agent is ready."
  3. Approve narrowly. When a task hits a login, approve only the one it asks for.

A starter task once you have it (ours, untested):

Sign in to my airline account with the login I approve in 1Password, find my next flight, and tell me the confirmation number and seat. Don't change or book anything.

Good to know#

  • Not your whole vault, but the whole account. Connecting "does not give it access to your entire vault," yet "Signing in can give Grok Bot access to information and actions within that account, so review the account and task before approving access" (Grok Bot page).
  • You may not be asked every time. "How often you are asked to approve access may vary by integration" (FAQ).
  • Protections differ by agent. "The safeguards and controls vary by integration" (blog).
  • Mac fill bugs are separate. Staff confirmed the Mac plugin's fill fails on some sign-in pages (Oct 14); it's unknown whether this rollout changes that.

What to watch: setup steps and a changelog entry, whether the Mac plugin's Auto fill setting carries over, and Business support. None is announced.
