Grok Bot routines need a Cursor plan with Automations, not SuperGrok
Staff confirm routine saves check your Cursor plan. On Start, or with only a SuperGrok link, the server refuses the routine.
If a Bot says "Automations are not available with your plan" when it tries to save a routine, the refusal is about your Cursor plan, not a broken Bot. On Oct 13 at 11:02 AM ET, Cursor staff member Colin said: "routines currently check your Cursor plan, and the Start plan doesn't include Automations (scheduled and triggered runs)." He added that a SuperGrok link "gives you access to Grok Bot itself, but it isn't counted for routines, so the server refuses the save."
What changed#
Amogh_Tyagi reported that on Grok Bot 0.70.2 (macOS), a disabled test routine failed with: "Not saved: the server refused this routine (create refused): Automations are not available with your plan." The account is on Cursor Start plus SuperGrok. Late-September creates had failed with no reason. Colin said those were "very likely the same refusal." The app, he said, "just didn't show the reason back then."
Why it matters#
Your Bot can chat and run tasks while every scheduled or triggered routine fails to save, so a morning brief or webhook job never runs. Colin agreed it is "confusing when Grok Bot itself works on your account, and the plan pages don't spell it out."
How to use it#
- Ask your Bot to list your routines. If one is missing, have it save it again and quote the exact error.
- If the error names your plan, check your Cursor plan in the Cursor dashboard.
- A SuperGrok link alone will not unlock routines. Staff did not say which plan does, so check Cursor's pricing page or ask in the forum before you upgrade.
- Until then, save the routine's instructions as a skill and start it from chat.
List my routines. Then try to save a disabled test routine that runs daily at 9 AM. If the save is refused, quote the exact error message and tell me whether it mentions my plan.
Good to know#
- Status: Confirmed behavior. Colin added the report to the issue staff are tracking and passed on docs feedback. No fix or plan change announced.
- The reporter asked whether SuperGrok will cover routines, or the app will warn before a save. No staff answer yet.
- Staff did not say how this applies to The X Subscription tiers announced Oct 12.
- We could not re-test this from our own account, which already has routines.
What to watch#
A reply on SuperGrok and X Subscription coverage for routines, and an in-app notice before a save is attempted.
