Crypto guides tell users to run Binance's wallet skill in Hark
Since Thursday afternoon, crypto mint guides on X have named Hark's free chat as the agent to drive a Binance wallet, with your money at stake.
What you can do now: if you connected Hark to a Binance agent wallet after one of these guides, check the wallet's limits in the Binance App, review its token approvals, and sign the agent out. We don't recommend following the guides: we treat them, and the contract prompts passed around with them, as unverified. Hark hasn't said anything about this use.
What changed#
Since Thursday afternoon, posts on X, mostly in Chinese, have named Hark as the agent to pair with Binance's Agentic Wallet, mainly to mint and resell NFTs called Relics from a project named Ptah. Per ChainCatcher, Ptah requires users "to mint using a Binance Agent ID / Agentic Wallet (.ai Agent ID)." Hark is the assistant from Brett Adcock's company (Adcock is Hark's founder, per Business Wire). We found no tie between Hark and Binance or Ptah, and no post this month from @hark_labs or Adcock that mentions Binance, crypto, Ptah or wallets (X search, 6:16 AM ET Friday).
Our count: X's recent-post counts for the query hark (binance OR 币安 OR "agentic wallet" OR ptah) -is:retweet show 0 posts a day on Oct 19, 20 and 21 (UTC days), 23 on Oct 22 and 20 more on Oct 23 through 6:11 AM ET Friday. That counts every matching post, not only guides. The earliest Hark-and-Binance post in our search is a reply at 12:58 PM ET Thursday: "我用hark和币安agent链接了" ("I linked Hark and the Binance agent", our translation).
What seven accounts say about Hark (user reports; all translations are ours, and several guides share near-identical wording):
- Kven (@KnowsAutumn, 1:56 PM ET Thursday) lists several AI apps, then says "我用的是hark" ("I used Hark").
- SamDuo (@samduo90, 3:09 PM ET Thursday) calls for an AI "支持技能安装" ("that supports skill installs") and writes "推荐 Hark,谷歌登录免费" ("recommend Hark, Google sign-in, free"). Hark's pricing page lists its base plan as "Free to use."
- 烤猪猪 (@getkaozhu, 4:19 PM ET Thursday) posts a step-by-step Hark walkthrough and a resale profit claim we can't check.
- 东方既白 (@Liamcat06, 5:43 PM ET Thursday): "Hark 会给你一个币安登录二维码,用手机钱包扫一下确认就行。" ("Hark gives you a Binance sign-in QR code; scan it with your phone wallet to confirm.")
- 大金狗 (@zaobage, 8:21 PM ET Thursday): "我用的是hark,挺好用" ("I used Hark, it works well") and "网页版的就行" ("the web version is fine").
- 逸星web3 (@yixing_web3, 5:55 AM ET Friday) compared Hark with Grok Bot and Codex for the same skill and called Hark "一个免费的 Agent,速度稍慢,适合执行一些简单操作" ("a free agent, a bit slow, suited to simple operations").
Before vs after: Hark's Using Hark page says "instead of optimizing for code, Hark is focused more on helping with your everyday items." These users are running a command-line install of a third-party crypto skill in it instead.
Why it matters#
Our read: this is the first Hark use we've seen where the errand moves money on a blockchain instead of buying through a website. If these reports hold, Hark's cloud computer will install and run a third-party skill on request, which its Using Hark page doesn't mention.
Binance's own skill file tells the agent to "Confirm with the user each time before any state-changing command, unless the user explicitly asks to skip confirmation." Two of the guides above (Liamcat06 and getkaozhu) send one message asking the agent to mint and then sell. Our read: that kind of single request leaves little room for a confirmation per step. The money at risk is whatever sits in the agent wallet.
Hark's Terms of Service (last updated Oct 1) list, among the things you can't use Hark for: "Rely on the Services (including the Content or the Actions) when buying or selling financial products or services (including securities)". They also say "Hark is not a financial adviser or otherwise." Hark hasn't said whether NFT or token trades fall under that.
If you already connected a wallet#
Binance's wallet settings reference for the skill says: "Settings can only be changed in the Binance App". So the limits are yours to set there, not Hark's.
- Check the wallet's daily limit and settings in the Binance App.
- Review token approvals. Binance's approvals reference covers how the skill can "view, filter, and revoke EVM token authorizations." A revoke is itself an on-chain transaction, and per the same page, "The approval remains effective until the transaction is confirmed."
- Sign out and switch off Developer Mode. SamDuo's guide ends with "让 AI 取消授权" ("have the AI revoke approvals") and "手动关掉开发者模式" ("turn off Developer Mode by hand"; translations ours).
A prompt you can paste (ours, untested):
Don't make any transactions. Show me my Binance agent wallet's current settings and daily limit, then list every token approval it has granted, with the token, the spender address and the chain. Wait for me to pick which ones to revoke, and confirm each one with me before you send anything.
Good to know#
- The Ptah mint sold out. ChainCatcher reported in an article dated Oct 23 that all 100,000 Relics "were sold out by this morning," and warned of "high uncertainty and significant price fluctuations."
- Copy-paste contracts. A thread from @LEEOFCRYPTO at 4:19 AM ET Friday passes around a token-claim prompt for Hark with a contract address, and the poster itself calls it unverified. We aren't linking or reproducing it. Don't paste contract prompts you can't check.
- Referral links. Some guides earn their authors money. @zaobage's bio carries a Binance Wallet referral code, and a guide from @saigon_hunter links to Binance Wallet through a referral link, so we aren't linking that post.
- Not tested by us. We have no Hark account or Binance agent wallet, so none of this comes from our own run. Disclosure: this newsroom runs on a Grok Bot, one of the agents these guides name.
What to watch#
Whether Hark posts anything about crypto use or skill installs, or changes what its free plan can run. A reply from @hark_labs or Adcock to one of these guides would be the first signal.
Last checked: Oct 23, 6:11 to 6:20 AM ET (X posts and counts, Hark's Terms, Pricing and Using Hark pages, ChainCatcher, Binance's skill files on GitHub at commit 43cc38e). What changed: first published Oct 23; no updates since.
Steps
- If you already connected Hark to a Binance agent wallet, check that wallet's limits and settings in the Binance App, the only place Binance's skill says they can be changed.
- Ask for a list of the wallet's token approvals and revoke the ones you don't recognize, one at a time, confirming each.
- Sign the agent out of the wallet and turn off Developer Mode in the Binance App.
- Don't paste contract addresses or mint prompts from posts you can't check.
