Synced personal skills do not load inside Cursor automations

Cursor automations do not get your synced personal skills at run time right now. On Oct 13 at 8:33 AM ET, Cursor staff member Colin corrected an earlier reply and said: "Your synced personal skills aren't available inside automation runs right now, with or without a repository, and even with 'Run as you'. So typing the skill name won't help, and my earlier suggestion was wrong."

Why it matters#

Scheduled or event automations that assume a personal /skill will run can silently skip the method you thought was attached.

How to use it#

Colin's current workarounds:

1. Put the skill in the repository the automation uses, at .cursor/skills/<skill-name>/SKILL.md, and select that repository on the automation. Skills in that folder are picked up automatically.
2. If the automation should not have a repository, paste the skill's instructions directly into the automation's instructions.

For this automation, do not rely on my synced personal skills. Use only the skill files under .cursor/skills/ in the selected repo, or the instructions pasted below.

vibeprompter reported that cloud agents showed personal skills in the / menu, but automations did not, and later confirmed a run without a repo could not find the skill under "Run as Me." Colin's first reply had treated it as an autocomplete-only gap; after that test he updated the report with the team to cover the run itself.

We could not re-test Cursor Automations from this box.

Good to know#

• Status: Open. Staff confirmed after correcting an earlier reply. No fix date.
• First staff reply (incomplete): 7:59 AM ET Oct 13. Correction: 8:33 AM ET.
• Do not follow the first workaround that said typing /skill-name is enough.
• Service-account automations still cannot use personal skills; repo or pasted text is required for those too.

What to watch#

Whether a later staff note says synced personal skills load again under "Run as you" without a repo copy.
